It is the mission of the John Paul II PTO to support and enhance the
education of our children by:
- Recognizing the uniqueness of each child as designed by God and
promoting collaboration of parents and teachers in allowing each
child to develop
their God-given gifts,
- Maintaining open communication with teachers
and the School Board,
- Assisting teachers with student activities
where possible,
- Providing an avenue for families to meet and socialize
with other families of common interests and values,
- Assisting with
appropriate financial assistance to the school.
September – The Autumn
Classic is one
of the two major fundraisers for the school year. It is a dinner,
dance and silent auction. This
event is intended for the adults.
This year the AC will help support the school in the following ways:
- $13,500.00 towards the yearly budget. (*PTO does this every year!)
- Pay
expenses for ALL of the teachers to attend this year’s
National Catholic Educators Association Conference, which will be
held in Minneapolis. (*PTO usually pays for 2 per year)
- A new oven
for the lunchroom.
- Any teacher requests throughout the year.
Because of your generous support last year- the
computer lab has all new computers and we were able to contribute greatly
towards the interactive
white boards in each classroom!
October - The October Dance is held near Halloween and is a fun family
evening. The children and parents are encouraged to wear their costumes.
December – Receptions are held after
each Christmas program.
January – The last Sunday in
January marks not only the Super Bowl but also the John Paul II Carnival.
This is the second major fundraiser
for the PTO and it is a great way to kick off Catholic Schools Week.
February – We use Catholic Schools Week
to show our appreciation for the teachers and dedicated staff of
John Paul II Elementary School.
March – This is the month we work with
the Mitchell Police Department to fingerprint the first grade students.
This provides a wonderful
permanent record for the families.
May – Each year the PTO awards two $250
scholarships to high school seniors. The applicants are alumni of
John Paul II (formerly
known as Mitchell Catholic School). May is also the month that the
planning begins for the Autumn Classic.
