GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of radical generosity. GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Since then, it has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

So far we have collected 108 boxes of Hamburger Helper to be donated to the Mitchell Area Food Pantry. We set a goal of 150 boxes. That means we only need 42 more! Can we do it, St. John Paul II future saints?

November 17th was the Feast Day of St. Elizabeth of Hungary. She was known for her great stewardship. She gave her time and treasures to those in need by feeding the hungry and caring for the sick. 4th grade would like to thank two special ladies, Mrs. Luckett and Mrs. Runyon, who help provide them with healthy nutritious meal at our school.

November Spirit Day

November 15 was the Feast of St. Albert the Great. He was given the title Great because of the way he used his mind to help many people. St. Albert teaches us that faith and science can work together and help us grow closer to God. 4th Grade made a chain of thank you’s to Mrs. Herrmann, our Mark & Chris Buche SmartLab instructor, who helps our students learn more about the world around them.

November 13th was the Feast of St. Homobonus. He is one of the few laity (a person who is not a priest, monk, or nun) saints. St. Homobonus came from a wealth family, but lived humbly and gave many of the money he earned to the poor and needed. He is the patron saint of businesspeople. Fourth grade would like to thank the two businesspeople at our school that do so much. Mrs. Bannwarth, the school’s office manager, and Mrs. LeBrun, the school’s development director.

Reminder: Cookie dough fundraiser pick-up is on Tuesday, November 18th from 3:00-4:00 pm in the St. JPII MPR. If you have any questions or are unable to pick up your order, please contact Renee LeBrun at renee.lebrun@k12.sd.us
